A group of gunmen suspected to be members of Boko Haram attacked the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria (Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa a Nigeria – EYN) in the Tabra ward of Biu, Borno State. The assailants arrived on foot, fired sporadically at the congregation, and fled immediately after the shooting. The attack, which occurred around 9:00 am, killed two worshippers (including an usher), seriously injured several others, and caused a stampede that resulted in high levels of psychological trauma among the survivors. Boko Haram later claimed responsibility for the attack in a conference call with journalists

Methodus Chimaije Emmanuel, a 24-year-old Christian trader, was lynched by a mob in Pandogari, Niger. The violence was ignited by an allegation that Methodus had posted a "blasphemous" comment about the Prophet Muhammad on social media (Facebook). A mob tracked him down, killed him, and subsequently went on a rampage, attacking the local Christian community and looting shops.
