Two gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram members shot and killed a State Security Service (SSS) officer, Mamman Shettima, outside his home in Damaturu, Yobe State. The attack occurred around 7:30 pm in the Ajiri (also spelled Ajari or Jeri) area, near the Central Primary School. A witness said the gunmen detonated explosives to create panic and facilitate their escape. The victim was sitting with friends when the two men came through a back street, opened fire at close range, and then fled.

In a coordinated nighttime attack (the actual attack occurred in the afternoon), gunmen targeted the private residence of a senior police officer—the Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Jinjiri Abubakar—in Kano City.
