Suspected Boko Haram insurgents launched a devastating raid on Sabon Gari village in Damboa Local Government Area, Borno State, approximately 90km south of Maiduguri. The attackers, arriving in pick-up trucks and chanting Allahu Akbar (God is greatest), opened fire on residents and set buildings ablaze in an assault that lasted from approximately 11:35 p.m. Thursday until 4:00 a.m. Friday . At least 17 residents were killed, over 100 shops were burned, and numerous houses, vehicles, and motorcycles were destroyed

Gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram members attacked a gum arabic factory in the Zajeri Industrial Area of Maiduguri. The assailants stormed the premises around 1:00 PM, demanded money from the Indian expatriate workers, and then opened fire. The attack killed two Indian nationals and injured three others. The attackers fled in an unmarked vehicle, chanting “Allahu Akbar.” Reports confirmed that the gunmen stole about ₦99,000 (≈ US$600) before escaping.
