Boko Haram insurgents attacked the border villages of Chinene and Amuda in the Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State. Some of the gunmen were dressed in military camouflage. They moved through the communities, shooting sporadically, setting fire to homes, shops, and churches, and hoisting their flags in Ashigashiya ward to claim the area. At least eight people were killed in Chinene, six churches were burnt down, and many residents fled into the surrounding mountains for refuge.

Boko Haram fighters in six trucks attacked the villages of Shafa, Azare, Sabon‑Kasuwa, Debro and Tashan Alade in Hawul LGA, Borno State, going from one village to the next. They burnt down at least five churches (including EYN churches), a police station, schools, shops and hundreds of houses. The insurgents looted thousands of bags of farm produce, emptied market stalls and stole vehicles. In Azare, they killed two police officers, a civil defence member and a vigilante. When residents fled into the bush, the insurgents chased them and opened fire. A search party later recovered five bodies with gunshot wounds from the bush, together with six women who had gunshot injuries – all hit while trying to escape.

Boko Haram terrorists invaded Chabal and other communities in Magumeri LGA. They killed two policemen and abducted two others. The insurgents also seized two operational patrol vehicles and set another vehicle ablaze along the Maiduguri-Chabal-Magumeri Road.

Suspected Boko Haram gunmen disguised as customers stormed the Monday Market in Maiduguri, Borno State, opening fire on traders selling insecticides and mosquito nets. Seven traders were killed and three others were injured. According to traders in the market, five of the victims were Igbo Christians from southeast Nigeria. The attackers escaped unnoticed before security personnel arrived.
