Troops of 271 Task Force Battalion, deployed under Operation Lafiya Dole, were on a clearance operation along the Pridang-Bitta road when they encountered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) buried by Boko Haram terrorists. The explosion was followed by an ambush by insurgents. In the ensuing firefight, troops fought through the ambush, neutralizing several Boko Haram militants while others fled with gunshot wounds. Tragically, five soldiers lost their lives as a result of the IED attack.
