ISWAP militants ambushed a recovery team of soldiers and civilian volunteers attempting to retrieve the corpses of 40 farmers killed in Dumba, Baga, Kukawa LGA, Borno State. The team comprised 54 civilian volunteers — including hunters, vigilantes, and Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) members — along with soldiers. According to a CJTF member, "Only one of the 54 personnel and youths drafted into the operation returned to Baga. The soldiers tried to repel the attack but were overwhelmed by the terrorists' numbers and superior firepower" . The troops had recovered and buried 15 bodies before coming under heavy gunfire midway to Dumba . Many soldiers and civilians remain unaccounted for; it is unclear whether they are wandering in the bush or have been abducted by the terrorists.
Boko Haram gunmen ambushed a group of Civilian JTF youth vigilantes near Mainok town, about 58 km from Maiduguri, Borno State. The vigilantes were returning to Maiduguri after arresting suspected Boko Haram members in Mainok. In the ambush, 23 vigilantes were killed. Soldiers engaged the attackers, killing two Boko Haram gunmen.
Two young men were ambushed and dragged into the bush while traveling from Rafin-Kada to Wukari. Their bodies were later found shot dead. This sparked a massive protest by women and children who blocked major roads in Wukari town to demand government intervention against persistent insecurity on that route.
