In one of the deadliest soft‑target attacks of the early insurgency, two Boko Haram gunmen on motorcycles hurled three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) into a crowded outdoor beer garden in the Dala Kabompi ward of Maiduguri. As patrons fled in panic, the assailants opened fire indiscriminately with automatic weapons before speeding away. The attack occurred during peak social hours, maximising civilian casualties.
