An advance team of security guards, protocol, and media officers was ambushed by suspected Bandits near Dutsinma, Katsina State, while travelling ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari’s planned trip to his hometown of Daura for the Eid-el‑Kabir celebration. The attackers opened fire on the convoy from ambush positions but were repelled by the military, police and DSS personnel accompanying the team. Two persons in the convoy sustained minor injuries and were treated; all other personnel and vehicles made it safely to Daura.
