ISWAP fighters opened fire on a group of construction workers who were laying telecom fiber optic cables in Wajirko village. The attack killed 11 workers and injured many others. The militants had previously visited the worksite on three separate occasions and warned the workers to stop the work, which the group viewed as a threat. The workers ignored the warnings because they needed income to feed their starving families
Suspected Boko Haram gunmen attacked three police formations in Damaturu, Yobe State, in a coordinated assault. At approximately 1:45 p.m., the gunmen targeted the Area Command, 'A' Division, and the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in the state capital. A similar attempt was also made on the state's police headquarters. The attackers broke into the fortified headquarters building but were repelled by a joint team of police and soldiers after a fierce 35-minute gun battle. A police recruit constable was killed during the attack at the Damaturu motor park, located behind the 'A' Division, though some sources reported no casualties. One arrest was made in connection with the attack.
