Boko Haram terrorists attacked the election collation centre in Kukareta (also called Kuareta) village, about 20 kilometres from Damaturu on the Damaturu‑Maiduguri road. The insurgents fired sporadically for about an hour, burnt the district head’s palace and two patrol vehicles, and killed three people – a mobile police officer and two civilians – before being repelled by security operatives.
Gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram opened fire on a group of men playing ludo in the Zango area of Bauchi city around 7:00 pm. The attackers, riding on two motorcycles, sprayed bullets into the crowd. At least six people were killed and nine others seriously injured, according to the Nigeria Red Cross. Witnesses reported that the gunmen fled immediately after the shooting. The incident was part of a wave of attacks that same day, which also included shootings in Kano.
Suspected Boko Haram militants launched a coordinated assault on Shuwa village in Madagali Local Government Area. The primary target was the Shuwa Divisional Police Station, which was attacked with locally made Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and automatic weapons at about 8 pm. The assailants reportedly pretended to lodge a complaint before opening fire, taking the personnel by surprise. Three police corporals were killed (conflicting accounts: the police commissioner later stated 3 killed, while some residents reported seeing two dead bodies) and at least fourothers injured, including an inspector. The attackers looted the armoury, carting away all the arms and ammunition.
