Cycle notes

The Riyom and Barkin Ladi massacres illustrate the recurring impact of intercommunal violence on food security and stability in Plateau State. The Tahoss massacre echoes previous mass killings in the state, including the April 2025 attacks in Bokkos and Bassa LGAs that killed over 100 people , and the December 2023 Christmas Eve massacre in Bokkos that killed about 150 residents . The pattern of targeting farmers during the agricultural season — to disrupt livelihoods and displace communities — has been a recurring feature of the conflict in the North‑Central region.
