A large group of heavily armed Boko Haram insurgents, riding in utility vehicles and on motorcycles, launched a rare urban incursion into Maiduguri, attempting to reach Giwa Barracks. The attackers used rocket-propelled grenades and artillery, engaging security forces in a two-hour gun battle.
