Cycle notes

Birnin Gwari attacks have been a recurring feature of Banditry in Kaduna State, with similar mass killings of farmers documented in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024. The reprisal dynamic – vigilante killing of a Bandits followed by a Bandits attack on civilians – mirrors earlier cycles in Birnin Gwari and neighbouring Niger communities.
