The assailants, believed to be operating from nearby forests, opened fire on unsuspecting motorists in what appeared to be a coordinated assault, killing three people. The attack occurred on the Rore/Arandun highway, an area that has been troubled with Banditry and kidnapping in recent times.

The Kwara State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the incident at the time of reporting. However, following a related armed robbery incident in the same area on the same day, the Commissioner of Police ordered a discreet investigation and reinforced patrols within the area to forestall recurrence.

Boko Haram militants swept through four interconnected villages—Abachari, Kote, Uda Lawanti, and Wokilli. The attackers moved silently between the communities, utilizing cold weapons (knives/machetes) and close-quarters gunfire. At approximately 1 am, a group of Bandits breached the perimeter fence of the Permanent Site of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Afaka, Kaduna State, wearing Nigerian Army uniforms to avoid suspicion. The attackers, who arrived in a single vehicle, drove unchallenged past the main security gate, passing through areas equipped with CCTV cameras. After entering, they ransacked about five flats in the officers' quarters, engaged in sporadic shooting, and killed two senior military officers. They also abducted another officer, Major Christopher Datong, forcing him through the nearby bush. The third officer taken (a lieutenant) was killed by the Bandits. Four other officers were injured during the attack. The gunmen escaped before the NDA Quick Response Team could arrive at the scene.
