Armed Attack NNG1113

Gunmen suspected to be Bandits ambushed motorists along the Rore and Aranorin communities in Irepodun Local Government Area, Kwara State, on Thursday, 28 August 2025. The assailants, believed to be operating from nearby forests, opened fire on unsuspecting motorists in what appeared to be a coordinated assault, killing three people. The attack occurred on the Rore/Arandun highway, an area that has been troubled with Banditry and kidnapping in recent times.

Response

The Kwara State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the incident at the time of reporting. However, following a related armed robbery incident in the same area on the same day, the Commissioner of Police ordered a discreet investigation and reinforced patrols within the area to forestall recurrence.
