Boko Haram gunmen carried out a reprisal attack in Dawashe village, near Baga town, Borno State. The assault targeted civilians, mostly fishermen and traders, killing more than 20 people. The attack was in retaliation for an earlier confrontation with a vigilante group (Civilian JTF) that had challenged Boko Haram in the area. The gunmen opened fire indiscriminately, leaving widespread casualties and fear among residents.
Eighteen insurgents on foot attacked the military base in the Cashew Plantation area using mortars and guns, resulting in a prolonged battle. Additionally, seven suicide bombers targeted civilians in nearby villages by detonating IEDs among residents who had fled their homes due to the gunfire.
