The Zamfara State Police Command confirmed the attack. Police Public Relations Officer ASP Yazid Abubakar stated that the assailants locked the mosque and shot worshippers. He confirmed that several worshippers sustained injuries and were taken to Gusau Hospital for treatment. The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Maikaba, identified the deceased victims and stated that the Bandits' strategy is to target places of worship to attract public attention. He revealed that the attack was carried out by Bandits loyal to a kingpin known as Bakin Malam. Additional personnel have been deployed across the state to enhance security, particularly around places of worship.
