The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) promptly mobilised personnel and sought military reinforcement to stabilise the situation . The injured officers were rushed to the General Hospital, Zonkwa, where the doctor on duty confirmed them dead . No firearm was carted away during the attack, and the situation has since been brought under control . Efforts have been intensified to track, arrest, and bring the perpetrators to justice, while aggressive patrols and general surveillance operations continue across Zangon Kataf and adjoining communities .

At about 5 pm on Saturday, dozens of ISWAP fighters in multiple gun trucks launched a coordinated assault on the garrison town of Damasak, headquarters of Mobbar LGA in northern Borno State. The insurgents split into two groups: one attacked the military 'super camp' housing the 5 Army Brigade and 145 Battalion, while the second group stormed the town, setting fire to a UN hub (which housed multiple agencies), gutting an office of the Norwegian Refugee Council, and destroying a police station. The attackers also looted a warehouse of the World Food Programme, carted away drugs from a general hospital, and torched an ambulance. A military source said the garrison was overrun and that a soldier was killed and two others wounded before air support from the Air Task Force of Operation Lafiya Dole drove the insurgents back.
