Armed Bandits on motorcycles stormed the Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri, during school hours. They overwhelmed the school's security, killing two policemen and one student during the attack . The gunmen then abducted a large number of students and staff, marching them into the nearby Ruga forest.
At approximately 12:30 am – 2:30 am, a gang of over 200 armed Bandits in military uniforms stormed Kajuru town, a community 37 km from Kaduna metropolis. The attackers, who arrived on motorcycles and in vehicles, laid siege by blocking every pathway and exit of the town. They engaged a military post opposite Government Secondary School Kajuru in a gun battle that lasted over an hour, while another group targeted the palace of the 85‑year‑old Emir. The gunmen hacked down the main entrance door, then forced open the metal door to his inner chamber. They abducted the Emir, his 25‑year‑old daughter, his 15‑year‑old granddaughter, four grandsons, a palace aide, and six other relative. Police confirmed 11 victims (the Emir plus 10 family members). A nursing mother and her one‑year‑old toddler were among the abducted.
In a daring operation targeting the Presidency’s inner circle, Alhaji Musa Umar, the Magajin Garin Daura, was abducted from his home when six gunmen arrived in an unregistered blue Peugeot 406 shortly after Maghrib prayer, fired into the air to disperse bystanders, and forced him into the vehicle before fleeing.
