ISWAP militants abducted a mobile police officer travelling in a commercial vehicle in Kareto, Mobbar LGA, Borno State.

Simultaneously with the attack on Ankpon, gunmen targeted the neighboring community of Kabamu. Residents were caught off guard in their homes during the late-night hours. The attackers focused on high-fatality strikes before retreating into the surrounding forest areas.

A 42-year-old trader, Shok Musa (also identified in some reports as Musa Shok or Musa Shock), was shot dead by unknown gunmen near his shop at Ungwa Kanikon, Gidan Waya, in the Kafanchan area of Jema’a LGA. Security forces responding to a distress call found Musa with fatal gunshot wounds on his back. He was taken to Anglican Hospital, Gidan Waya, where a doctor confirmed his death. His body was later deposited at the Kafanchan General Hospital mortuary. Rep. Daniel Amos (PDP-Jema’a/Sanga) condemned the killing, described it as “sad and condemnable,” and cautioned against retaliation. Authorities stated that an investigation had commenced.

On the eve of the Eid-el-Kabir festival, suspected Boko Haram insurgents fired at least four mortar bombs into Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, from the Kaleri area on the city's outskirts. The explosives landed in the densely populated neighborhoods of Mairi, Custom (near Mansur Motors), Gwange (including Gwange II Primary School), and Gidan Ayaba Ngudiba line. The attack caused panic among residents preparing for the festival, killing at least 6 people and injuring 27 others. One victim was a 19-year-old named Godfrey Ebele, who was killed in front of his home.
