Gunmen abducted four residents in Kallah Village, Kajuru LGA, Kaduna State.
Edgar Raupach, a German construction engineer employed by Dantata & Sawoe Construction Company, was abducted at approximately 8:00 a.m. while working at a construction site along the Zaria Road highway. Three gunmen arrived in an Opel Vectra, handcuffed him, forced him into the vehicle, and drove away. Raupach was held in captivity for over four months. During that time, Al‑Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) issued a statement claiming responsibility, demanded the release of a German woman imprisoned for supporting a foreign terrorist network, and released a video of the hostage. While in captivity, Raupach was moved to an enclave near Bayero University Kano.
Insurgents killed a herdsman who had tried to escape after refusing to pay protection money. They caught up with him in Dumba village near Lake Chad, slaughtered him, shot dead 50 of his cattle, and took four women from his family along with the remaining herd.
